New Year…Same You.
The champagne has been popped. The remnants of broken 2020 headbands litter the floors. You have woken up and its January 1st and you the reality of a new year comes crashing down.
Like thousands of people across the world, you have probably made have said all your positive manifestations for the year, and you are looking at the vision board you put together before bed (for those of us who stayed home).
It has been a week, and you have only been to the gym twice and ate a salad once, and now you are starting to feel like the “old you”.
Well, I am here to tell you that you are fine. Breathe and take it easy.
There is always a heavy pressure on the first few days of January to be this “new version” of yourself. Which when you think about the fact it takes 66 days to build a habit, new years should cover a good three months in all honesty (especially with that January payday).
Let’s be honest you will probably be the same you at the clock striking midnight and for the weeks to follow while you get into the swing of your new goals.
The best way to keep moving and not fall into the slump of the January blues is to take on one resolution at a time then slice that resolution into smaller pieces (if applicable).
It is easy to become overwhelmed with all your big goals and the older we get; the more time seems to be slipping away, so we push ourselves to try and get as much done as possible without really doing much at all.
I am by no means an expert at this, but I have recently found myself cutting my goals down into small daily tasks, and I’ve found I can get more things done without killing myself.
But remember we have 355 days to keep trying and like I said before there is absolutely nothing wrong with being the same you.
