Hello, my loves. It’s almost Christmas, and we are almost at the end of this wretched year. 2020 has really taken us through IT! but let us be thankful we made it out on the other side, and we have the month of December to get drunk (responsibly of course) and get glammed up for those zoom Christmas parties and how to be oil-free and LookFantastic this Christmas
If you are like me, the lockdown has given me ample time to watch YouTube. I wouldn’t say I am a make up fanatic, but I love a good beat face.
My skin type is oily. Not oily combination. Just straight frying pan grease. Which is a nightmare when it comes to buying makeup products. To my oily sisters, this haul, I did it for us and went on a hunt on how to be oil-free and look fantastic this Christmas.
Everything I’ve listed here has been trialled and tested (three times for minimum 6 hours might I add!) however; Disclaimer: If this does not work for you. I’m sorry. Hang in there. Please don’t come and kill me.

Three words. Milk. Hydro grip. Dupe. Alert. Ok, maybe that was four words. But whatever, my point still stands. Not everybody has Milk Makeup money. Β£28 for primer? My bank account hasn’t reached there yet. I still struggle with the fact my eyebrow pencil costs Β£18.

But this primer? BABY! she does what she needs to do. However. Your foundation choice is important here.
I tried this primer with two types of foundations. L’OrΓ©al Paris True match in 11N and Toofacedβs comfort matte foundation in shade Cocoa. True Match was a fail. A whole fail. I looked like I had been steaming my face with makeup on. And do not get me started on the the make up transfer.
However with Toofaced it worked so much better. As the primer is hydrating and toofacedβs foundation is quite matte without being too drying it’s like a match made in heaven. I mean just look at the difference in transfer to mask. Both masks worn for the same amount of time.
For the Oily Skins out there!: Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Powder in Honey (Lookfantastic.co.uk Β£32.00)

AUNTY LAURA! AUNTY LAURAAAAAAA! You have done something with this one.
Ms Mercier. Give your staff a raise. Right this second. Because they killed it. Bodybagged the setting powder industry. She came through for black girls with this.
We all know Laura revolutionised the game when she released the original translucent powder (she went astray with that medium-dark situation) but my oh my did she redeem herself.
Let’s first of all, discuss how she gave us the yellow we deserved. Not that scary banana shade we have been forced to manage. I mean, look at the swatch.
I know some of you might be wondering how on earth is Β£32.99 good value for money. Well, this product a little goes a REALLLLLLY long way, so this is definitely a product you will have for a very long time before you need to hit the restock button.
Base but on a budget: The Ordinary High Adherence Silicone Primer 30ml (Lookfantastic Β£3.90)

This little gem is my everyday primer. I have tested her with a number of my foundations and she hasn’t failed me (yet!)
I am not particularly a huge fan of silicone primers. After my last run-in with Maybelline’s baby skin primer, it has been a strong no from me regarding silicone-based primers. But The Ordinary has converted me back. The formula, first of all, feels nothing like Maybelline’s idea of silicone. It is almost like a moisturiser type of primer which I really like as it does not feel heavy on the skin and goes on very smoothly.
This is what the ordinary has to say about this primer

The non-greasy formula features adaptive silicone particles that create a high definition finish with long lasting wear, effectively working to blur the look of imperfections including fine lines and enlarged pores. Free from alcohol and oil, it leaves your complexion looking fresh, shine-free and flawless while helping enhance the longevity of your makeup”
This is an excellent example of does what it says on the tin. I am not really from the school of wearing primer on it own. However, I have found myself grabbing this when I want to run to town quickly. Especially working 10 hour days my face in the morning can sometimes be a sight for sore eyes, but thanks to our good friends at The Ordinary from the nose up I look presentable.
I do hope that you have enjoyed this. What are some of your faves? Have you tried any of the products above? Do you have any recommendations? Let me know in the comments!
